Volunteer position up near Kyogle NSW for Bell Miner colony vegetation monitoring… Message the page or email klamber4@une.edu.au

Looking for someone to do some vegetation monitoring up near Kyogle NSW. Must have some idea of what to do with GPS and find points using one. Must also have afairly good level of fitness. The work involves monitoring 8 quadrats of 20 m x 20 m, estimating vegetation cover of lantana, grass, trees etc in the understorey, midstorey and canopy. Then taking photos of trees that being scored for canopy health.

The project is based on a private property where lantana is being sprayed and a bell miner colony is located. We want to determine whether spraying lantana on a large scale will cause colony movement and ultimately canopy health increases.

I can provide all training if required. It’s a volunteer position but it will be good for your resume and I can provide references. Once data is collected, you can also help with writing up the paper and be a co-author.

    Hi Kathryn,

    It never rains it pours.

This weekend is out unfortunately. ‚ÄčI was offered full time work at UOW on Monday in my current roles which started immediately. Which is great of course! And I have a gig in Sydney tonight and Canberra on Sunday night. I’m going to be flat out now until Christmas.

In the mean time though, I’ll keep adding records to your website from down here at Port Kembla..

    Hope it’s all going well.

    Regards,

    Stuart
